God had His hand on Xavier Montenegro’s life, even since he was a tiny newborn with a hole in his heart. Xavier was born in Phoenix. The doctors had no answers and it seemed the odds were against him. His parents were, at the time, young converts and they believed in the miracle power of God. Their pastor prayed with them and laid ahold of God for his life. When they went back for a check-up, the results came in. The hole was completely gone!
Xavier was raised as a church kid and knew right from wrong. Though he was not outwardly a rebel, he hung out with friends from school that were smoking weed. Though he had no reason, he was an angry kid. He and his friend would go out and get into fights and sometimes get suspended from school. It was about two years ago that Xavier asked Jesus Christ to be his Lord and Savior. A man from his church would call him up every day to make sure he made it to church. Not long after committing his life to Jesus, Xavier went to a summer youth bootcamp sponsored by the CFM ministries. He felt it was the first time he had an appointment with God where God came down and spoke to him. He was laying down for the night at the bootcamp and God spoke to him. It was as clear as day that this was where God wanted him to be and that God wanted to use him in powerful ways. There was a kid laying next to him and God put it on Xavier’s heart to speak with this teen. The teen then prayed with Xavier to give his life to Jesus Christ.
God has continued to move in Xavier’s life. He has felt the call of God on his life and has felt a love for people. It was during a Youth Extreme hosted by the Potter’s House in Prescott; he met up with one of his friends from his church (whose family lives in Prescott). They went into his parent’s house and met his mom. They began to share their testimonies and what God had done in their life. The presence of God came down so powerfully on them that they were weeping their eyes out. They began to lay ahold of God. On the way home, they were just listening to music and not really thinking of anything. But one of Xavier’s friends, who was in the front seat, broke down and began to weep. Suddenly Xavier began to sob. Then, all of them were weeping without knowing why. They began to feel like God had called them to something greater than they could ever imagine. Xavier called it the most powerful experience he has ever had in his life. God is going to pour out revival on the youth. Xavier believes that God has called him at such a young age to be an example and he wouldn’t trade it for anything. Anyone can be used if they are willing.
God has helped Xavier in tremendous ways. He gave his family peace that the world couldn’t offer. Xavier wants to do whatever God has for him. Xavier explains that he wouldn’t be here at the age of sixteen without God’s intervention. “He changed my life… I encourage you, if you’re out there and broken, give him a chance”. For the person that is looking for answers or has never felt the love of God, “you may have tried everything: drugs, alcohol, etc. but it will leave you empty”.
