Additional Prayer Needs
(5/20/26) prayer update from Tempe Saints Joshua & Ivana Netzer (regarding their young son, Roman-his stomach is closed): - “I have an update on Roman. They took him today for an MRI to view his spine and to have Botox on his saliva glands to stop the reproduction of secretions so that his leak can heal. That went well! They also checked his airway to see some things more clearly and I got word from the hospital that Roman has what they call tracheoesophageal fistula. They need to decide if fixing that first before the repair, doing it in increments or all one major surgery is the best option. As a result, they had to leave him intubated so if they do the surgery immediately, he will be ready to go. I will find out in the next day or two. No one word on MRI yet. If we could, please be praying for the doctors to have the wisdom to do what needs to be done properly! I appreciate the prayers so much!!! Prayer works and I see evidence of that in all of this!!!” (update on 5/22/26): “Surgery came by. So, the fistula that Roman has is the rarest form of esophageal atresia that there is only 1% of live births have it. Surgery was looking at all of his imaging since birth and they’re pretty sure it was there the entire time; but they didn’t see it clearly and that would explain why Roman wasn’t successfully progressing “like the book” and it was so hard for them to put tension on his esophagus because that fistula was restricting that. The moment she told me that it immediately reminded me of Pastor Smith sermon, and when he mentioned that in his sermon, I immediately started redirecting my prayers. So rather than doing the typical trim and clamp shut, they are thinking of cauterizing it possibly next week. Nothing concrete yet.”
